About the Treatment
Pretreatment Instructions:
For best results, it is advisable to avoid sun exposure and the
following products and procedures at least one week prior to your
treatment:
- Electrolysis
- Waxing
- Depilatory creams
- Laser hair removal
- Any exfoliating products
- Any products that may be drying or irritating including products
containing salicylic acid, alphahydroxy acids, including glycolic
acids and products containing Vitamin A and retinol
- Shaving of the area to be peeled
Post-Peel Instructions:
Sunburn Alert: This procedure utilizes ingredients which may
increase the skin’s sensitivity to the sun and particularly the
possibility of sunburn. Recommend using a sunscreen of at least SPF 20
and limiting sun exposure while using this product and for at least one
week afterwards.
The skin may look and feel like a mild windburn for the next two to
three days prior to peeling. After 48 hours a slight flaking may occur,
which can easily be controlled with moisturizers such as the SkinMedica
Ultra-sheer Moisturizer. Suggest that they purchase SkinMedica Sensitive
Skin Cleanser for home care. Many ingredients in foundations are greasy,
fragranced and can be irritating, therefore foundation should not be
worn after the Vitalize Peel or during the days when the skin is
actually peeling. Avoid the sun, scrubs, AHA’s, glycolic acid, Vitamin C
or retinol creams. Let the skin shed at its own rate to avoid scarring
or rashes, avoid pulling or peeling shedding skin. After one week the
skin should look clearer and smoother and the use of normal skin care
products can resume.
Possible Side Effects:
Possible side effects may include mild redness, drying and/or flaking
of the skin, itching, swelling, burning, blistering, skin discoloration,
and possible crusting of the skin. If swelling, burning, blistering,
discoloration, or crusting occurs, contact the doctor’s office for
assistance.
